Day 19 - Faithfulness

(Jdg. 15:13 – 1 Sam. 2:29)

Ruth 2:12 (NKJV)

12 The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.”

1 Samuel 2:4 (NKJV)

2 “The bows of the mighty men are broken, And those who stumbled are girded with strength.

1 Samuel 2:7-8 (NKJV)

7 The LORD makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and lifts up. 8 He raises the poor from the dust And lifts the beggar from the ash heap, To set them among princes And make them inherit the throne of glory. “For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, And He has set the world upon them.

The definition of the word faith is “a belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb. 11:1).

Today we learn of a woman who was so faithful that even when it appears that she has lost everything, she held fast to a vow. She was determined to take care of her mother-in-law when her husband and father-in-law had both passed away. As a young woman she could have chosen to leave and do things her own way, but she chose to hold fast to the Lord and his grace.

Favor was bestowed upon her through God by a distant relative of her mother-in-law. With no home of her own and no means of support she was able to acquire not only more food than she and her mother-in-law deserved, but her faithfulness to the Lord put her in a position to marry a man of influence and to be the mother of a nation.

How strong is your faith? Will you hold on to the Lord no matter what the adversity? Do you trust and believe what is an unseen truth rather than what your eyes see as a temporary blight?

Have faith, hold on, your reward is near.

Follow the Journey.
